Europe Volunteering Service (EVS) Project „Volunteers change Jēkabpils”
The general objective of the project is to promote the international environment entering and development in society, non-governmental organizations of Jēkabpils city and region of Vidusdaugava trough different levels of youth policy and active lifestyle prism, at the same time non-formal learning skills promoting young volunteers personal growth and development.
EVS project will be realized in the association „Jekabpils NGO Resource center”, which is located in Jēkabpils city, Latvia.
The project will be realized as a long term project for 1 year. The implementation of the EVS activity in Latvia will begin in 2nd October, 2015.
In project will be involved two young people: one of Romania – the sending organization „American International School of Transylvania”, and one girl from Eastern partnership country Armenia – the sending organization „Kasa Swiss Humanitarian Foundation”.
Volunteer from Armenia will develop the field of youth policy, helping create „Youth discussion club of Vidusdaugava”.
A girl from Romania will promote active lifestyle through social networks and local newspapers – urging residents to focus more on active lifestyle. She will find and showing the potential unconventional forms of physical activities in city environment.
Final results of EVS:
- Will be established „ Youth discussion club of Vidusdaugava”, and will be created advertising roller about it.
- In Jēkabpils calendar of 2017 will be summarized untraditional possibilities of active lifestyle in Jēkabpils. This calendar created by volunteer, will be volunteer`s portfolio of EVS results, as well organisation representing material for future EVS projects in local, regional and European level.
The main activities of the project will be – the preparation phase for EVS volunteers receiving, that will include communication with the sending organization and the same time volunteers; voluntary welcoming in Jēkabpils and training after arrival. The main activities are voluntary job performance, as the same time representing materials creating, evolution and recognition of EVS
|For developing 8 Youthpass defined competences during EVS, will be used:· Mentoring;· Practical learning in organisation and urban environment that will provide socialization skills and improve innovative thinking.
|EVS making process most will be used non-formal learning methods: · Learning by doing;· As linguistic support will be used language training method online, before departure;
· Training on arrival and language everyday practice by EVS.
Intercultural communication skills will developed by creating a discussion club and organizing intercultural activities. Own-initiatives, what promotes business skills, will be realised by communication with local young people in the school environment and also organisations. This EVS project also will contribute development of volunteers personality and volunteering will bring benefit to the local community.
